ANDY KASTELIC is an actor, writer, and director from Albuquerque, NM. Instilled early on with a fierce passion for storytelling and a love for cinema, he studied acting and playwriting in first two years of college at Eastern New Mexico University. During this time, his affinity for deeply affecting and personal character studies intensified and helped push him to seek storytelling opportunities in the arts driven city of Seattle. Four years of graveyard shifts and passion projects helped him to gain a better understanding of story and technique, and he soon made the move to Los Angeles to further his acting and storytelling studies at the Lee Strasberg Institute of Film and Theatre -- where he studied “the method” under Anne De Salvo, Andre Landzaat, and David Strasberg. After a move to Albuquerque, NM he formed the production company Balian Pictures, LLC and began a string of films that explored themes such as the shift in American values, the rising toll of infantile deaths, classic and contemporary violence, and marriage. To delve deeper into his theoretical approach to filmmaking, he decided to complete his degree at the University of New Mexico - a BA in Cinematic Arts with an emphasis in film theory involving deep studies in formalism, French New Wave, Third Cinema, and German New Objectivity. Heavily influenced by filmmakers John Ford, Jacques Audiard, and John Cassavetes, he strives to tell stories that illuminate the passions and plights of existence – all with an eye for relevance, wonder, and cinematic excellence.
